I’m not really a B&B person. I’m more of a hotel person because in my mind, hotels tend to be clean, centrally located, private and chocked full of amenities. Colonial Creekside is such a treat with the added bonus of the attention to detail that only a bed and breakfast can bring. Situated on a spacious property with a clear water spring-fed creek; wonderful for a quick and peaceful outdoor walk. When we pulled up, I wasn’t sure what to expect. We were cheerfully greeted at the door and offered comfortable slippers. Such hospitality! The beginning of ongoing luxurious attention to detail. This B&B is three suites big which equates to a relaxing and quiet getaway. Each suite has an en-suite bathroom. Suite Melon is the smallest of the three but is delectably decorated and still quite large. Great in-suite dining area and spacious en-suite bathroom. Suite Chocolate is the largest of the three and boasts a separate private living room. It has a balcony with a great view. We stayed in Suite Cherry. IMMACULATELY clean with a separate sitting area. The attention to detail in this Bed and Breakfast is impeccable. From the en-suite bathroom complete with spacious walk-in shower, to the corner romantic fire place (electric). Our room came with a private balcony as well which overlooked the lushness of the property. Don’t let the small number of suites fool you. These hosts are so intuitive that they have provided for even the most simplistic or complex of needs you may have. Hungry? Don’t worry, pick from a great selection of breakfast items and find them ready for you in the morning to be enjoyed in your in-suite breakfast dining area. Stressed? Don’t worry, there is a wonderful indoor pool with a great view. The pool room is kept toasty warm and the poolside furnishings are perfect for lounging about after a great swim. Need to Stay Connected? No problem, WiFi is available at no charge, as is cable TV. Feeling Romantic? In-room fireplace coupled with the room furnishings makes for a great ambiance. Want to enjoy a glass of Merlot while curled up in a chair by the fireplace? No problem, the kitchenette has a corkscrew or bottle opener on hand and ready, along with caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee ready to brew. Don’t feel like brewing? No problem, electric kettle, microwave and yes even instant coffee is available on hand. Rainy afternoon and nothing on TV? No problem, there’s even a small collection of DVDs available with something for everyone….you get the picture. The B&B is centrally located; only 10 minutes from St. Jacob’s, and just a few minutes from Downtown Kitchener and Uptown Waterloo. We were able to enjoy a great combination of rural and urban both in the surrounding City as well as at this great B&B. What really struck me with this location was the price in relation to what you actually received in return…upscale, peaceful, clean surroundings, centrally located. We’ll definitely be back!
